Possible Causes
Hardness set too high, capacity set too low, incorrect meter size or setting, internal leak through valve causing phantom usage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No electrical hazards for programming changes; unplug only if opening the control.
- Check hardness setting: Compare programmed hardness to actual tested hardness. Reduce the setting if it is significantly higher than measured.
- Review capacity and reserve: Ensure the programmed capacity and reserve are appropriate for the resin volume and household usage.
- Verify meter size: Confirm the meter size and type in programming match the installed Fleck meter (e.g., 3/4" turbine, 1" turbine).
- Check for internal leaks: If the meter shows flow when no water is being used, inspect for a leaking toilet or faucet, or an internal valve leak (piston/seals) allowing bypass flow.
