How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Shut off main water and relieve pressure before disassembling the bypass. Have towels ready for residual water.
- Exercise the bypass: Gently move the bypass through its full range several times to break up minor scale. Do not force it.
- Disassemble and clean: Remove the bypass from the valve (if serviceable type). Clean internal passages and inspect O-rings.
- Replace O-rings: Install new O-rings and lubricate with silicone grease. Reassemble and test for leaks.
- Replace bypass assembly: If the body is cracked or the mechanism is severely seized, replace the entire Fleck bypass valve.
