Possible Causes
Loose compression fittings, cracked brine line tubing, damaged ferrules, overtightened fittings causing distortion
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Place the softener in bypass and depressurize before working on the brine line.
- Inspect tubing: Check the entire length of the brine line for cracks, kinks, or pinholes. Replace if damaged.
- Reseat fittings: Loosen and then retighten the compression nuts at the Fleck valve and brine tank. Ensure the tubing is fully inserted.
- Replace ferrules or fittings: If the compression ferrules are deformed or the fittings are cracked, replace them with new parts sized for the brine line.
- Test under pressure: Return the valve to service and observe the connections during a regeneration to confirm no leaks.
