Possible Causes
Clogged drain line, Kinked drain hose, Blocked drain fitting on valve, Drain line air gap or standpipe restriction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Brine is corrosive; wear gloves and eye protection.
- Step 1 – Inspect drain hose: Follow the drain line from the valve to the drain. Straighten kinks and ensure there are no high loops that trap air.
- Step 2 – Check drain termination: Ensure the air gap or standpipe is not blocked. Clear any buildup.
- Step 3 – Clean drain fitting: Shut off water and relieve pressure. Remove the drain fitting at the valve and clear any debris or scale.
- Step 4 – Test flow: With the drain line disconnected from the drain, run a manual regeneration and verify strong flow from the hose into a bucket.
- Step 5 – Replace hose if needed: If the hose is internally collapsed or scaled, replace with a new GE-compatible drain hose.
Warning: Secure the drain hose to prevent it from whipping during high flow.
