Possible Causes
Brine refill valve not opening, Control board not energizing refill, Blocked refill flow path, Float stuck in closed position
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and place it in BYPASS before disassembly.
- Step 1 – Observe refill stage: Start a manual regeneration and watch the brine tank during the refill step. Listen for water entering.
- Step 2 – Check float: Inspect the float assembly in the brine well. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck in the up (closed) position.
- Step 3 – Inspect refill valve: Remove and inspect the brine refill valve or orifice in the control head. Clean any scale or debris.
- Step 4 – Verify control output: If mechanically clear but no water flows, the control board may not be opening the refill valve. Check wiring and replace the electronic control board if necessary.
- Step 5 – Manually add water: As a temporary measure, add 3–4 gallons of water to the brine tank to allow a proper regeneration after repairs.
