Possible Causes

Failed keypad membrane, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Loose display/keypad ribbon cable, Defective user interface board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control panel. Avoid static discharge to the electronics.

  • Step 1 – Inspect for moisture: Remove the control cover and look for condensation, rust, or water tracks on the keypad and display board. Dry gently with a soft cloth if damp.
  • Step 2 – Check ribbon cable: Locate the flat ribbon cable between the keypad and main control board. Reseat both ends, ensuring they are fully inserted and locked.
  • Step 3 – Test keypad: Restore power and test each button. If some buttons work and others do not, the keypad membrane is likely failing.
  • Step 4 – Replace user interface: If reseating the cable does not resolve the error, replace the front user interface / keypad assembly or the entire control cover assembly, depending on your GE model.
  • Step 5 – Seal against future moisture: Ensure the control cover gasket is intact and properly seated to prevent humidity or splashes from entering.

Warning: Do not spray cleaners directly on the control panel; apply to a cloth first.
