• Step 2 – Power stability: Ensure the softener is on a non-switched outlet that is not frequently turned off. Avoid plugging into power strips that may be switched.
• Step 3 – Factory reset: Perform a factory reset per the GE manual, then re-enter all settings. Monitor if “Err 7” returns.
• Step 4 – Replace control board: If the clock drifts significantly or the error reappears after reset, the electronic control board timing circuit is defective and should be replaced.
