Possible Causes
Cracked brine tank, Loose brine line fitting, Leaking brine valve, Overflow due to stuck float
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Salt water is corrosive; protect nearby metal surfaces.
- Step 1 – Determine leak location: Dry the outside of the brine tank and observe where water reappears: at fittings, seams, or the bottom.
- Step 2 – Check brine line fittings: Tighten or reseat the brine line connections at the valve and brine well. Replace cracked tubing or ferrules.
- Step 3 – Inspect float assembly: Remove the brine well cover and check the float/overflow assembly. Ensure the float shuts off refill water and that the overflow tube is not blocked.
- Step 4 – Look for tank cracks: If water seeps from the sidewall or bottom of the brine tank, the tank is cracked and should be replaced with a GE-compatible brine tank.
- Step 5 – Clean up: Remove spilled brine promptly to prevent corrosion and floor damage.
