Water softener uses very little or no salt over time.

Possible Causes
Salt bridge preventing salt dissolution, Clogged venturi, No brine refill, Bypass left on bypass
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing covers. Wear gloves when handling salt.
- Step 1 – Check for salt bridge: Probe the salt bed with a broom handle to ensure there is no hollow space under a hard crust.
- Step 2 – Verify brine level change: During regeneration, watch the brine level. If it never drops, the unit is not drawing brine.
- Step 3 – Clean venturi: Remove and clean the venturi and nozzle assembly to restore suction.
- Step 4 – Confirm refill: Ensure the brine tank refills with water at the end of regeneration. If not, troubleshoot the refill system.
- Step 5 – Check bypass: Make sure the bypass valve is in service so the unit actually treats water and triggers regenerations.
