Salt turned into sludge (mush) at bottom, Blocked brine grid, Clogged brine suction tube, Inadequate brine draw during regeneration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Wear gloves and eye protection. Disconnect power before working on brine system.

  • Remove mush: Scoop out the soft, muddy salt from the bottom of the brine tank. Dispose of it according to local regulations.
  • Clean brine grid and well: Remove the brine grid (if present) and clean the bottom of the tank. Rinse the brine well and float assembly.
  • Flush suction tube: Disconnect the brine suction tube from the valve head and flush it with warm water to remove blockages.
  • Refill with proper salt: Refill the tank with clean tablet salt and fresh water to the recommended level. Run a manual regeneration and check that salt is being consumed.
