Possible Causes
Salt level sensor contaminated, Cable to salt sensor disconnected, Sensor corroded by brine, Incorrect sensor mounting height
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power. Wear gloves and eye protection when working around brine.
- Locate sensor: On many Grünbeck softeners with automatic salt monitoring, a level sensor is mounted in or above the brine tank.
- Check wiring: Inspect the cable and connector for corrosion or damage. Clean light corrosion with contact cleaner and reconnect firmly.
- Clean sensor: Remove the sensor from the brine tank. Rinse with warm fresh water to remove salt crusts. Do not scrape with metal tools.
- Verify mounting: Ensure the sensor is installed at the specified height and orientation according to the manual so that it correctly detects low salt level.
- Reset alarm: Reinstall the sensor, reconnect power, and follow the control menu to reset or acknowledge the salt sensor error. If the error persists, replace the salt level sensor.
