Possible Causes
Disconnected communication cable, Incorrect bus termination, Faulty external module, Firmware incompatibility
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before connecting or disconnecting communication cables.
- Check cabling: Inspect the communication cable (e.g. RJ45, 2-wire bus) between the Grünbeck softener and the external module (e.g. remote display, building management interface). Ensure both ends are firmly plugged in.
- Inspect for damage: Look for crushed, cut, or water-damaged cables. Replace if any damage is visible.
- Verify addressing: In the control menu, confirm that the external module type and address are configured correctly.
- Power-cycle modules: Disconnect power to both the softener and the external module for 1 minute, then power them up again to re-establish communication.
- Update firmware: If available, update the firmware of the softener and external module according to Grünbeck instructions. Persistent errors may require replacement of the communication module.
