Possible Causes
Failed RTC chip on control board, Depleted backup battery (if present), Incorrect time/date settings, Electrical interference resetting clock
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel cover.
- Set correct time: Using the user interface, set the correct time and regeneration schedule. Save settings and observe if they are retained after a short power interruption.
- Inspect backup battery: If your Hansgrohe model uses a coin-cell or small battery on the PCB, check for low voltage or corrosion. Replace with the exact specified type if low.
- Check for resets: Ensure the softener is not sharing a circuit with heavy loads that cause voltage dips. If necessary, move to a more stable circuit.
- Board replacement: If the clock continues to lose time or E12 persists, the RTC circuitry on the control board is likely faulty and the board should be replaced.
