Harvey Initial Setup / Commissioning Issue

Harvey softener installed recently but water still feels hard and limescale persists

Possible Causes

Bypass left open, Incorrect hardness setting, Incomplete initial regeneration, Wrong plumbing connections

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Confirm all isolation valves are accessible before adjusting.

  • Verify bypass: Ensure the Harvey bypass valves are correctly set to service, not bypass.
  • Check plumbing orientation: Confirm inlet and outlet connections are not reversed on the Harvey valve.
  • Set hardness: Program the correct incoming hardness into the control.
  • Run commissioning regeneration: Perform a full manual regeneration as per the installation guide, then allow several days for existing scale to begin dissolving.

If hardness remains unchanged after correct commissioning, have the installation checked by a qualified installer.
