Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power and water before opening the control head. Do not place fingers near moving gears when powered.
- Localize the noise: Start a regeneration and listen carefully to determine if the sound comes from the motor/gear area or from plumbing.
- Inspect gears: Remove the control head cover and visually inspect the plastic gears and cam. Look for missing teeth, cracks, or misalignment.
- Remove debris: If you see resin beads or foreign objects in the gear area, carefully remove them.
- Replace worn parts: Severely worn gears or a noisy motor should be replaced with the correct Harvey gear/motor kit.
Because incorrect timing of the cam can cause operational faults, gear and motor replacement should be done by a technician familiar with Harvey valve timing procedures.
