Possible Causes

Worn rotor seals, Damaged O-rings on Harvey control valve, Cracked valve body, Loose plumbing connections

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Immediately isolate the softener by closing inlet and outlet valves and opening a nearby tap to relieve pressure. Disconnect power.

  • Identify leak source: Dry the area and observe where water reappears. Check unions, hoses, and the joint between the control head and resin tank.
  • Tighten fittings: Gently tighten any loose compression nuts or union connections by hand, then a small additional turn with a wrench. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
  • Inspect valve body: Look for visible cracks in the Harvey control valve housing. If cracked, the valve body must be replaced.
  • Seal replacement: If water seeps from the seam between the valve and tank, the main O-ring or rotor seals are likely worn. These require disassembly of the valve and should be replaced using a Harvey seal kit.

Because incorrect reassembly can cause further leaks or damage, seal and valve body replacement is best carried out by a qualified Harvey service engineer.
