Possible Causes

Unplugged or failed wall transformer, Tripped circuit breaker or GFCI, Loose low-voltage connector at control head, Shorted control board drawing down transformer

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Work carefully around electrical outlets. If you are not comfortable testing live voltage, contact a qualified technician.

  • Check outlet: Verify the outlet powering the Hellenbrand transformer has power by plugging in a lamp or tester. Reset any tripped GFCI or breaker.
  • Inspect transformer: Ensure the transformer is firmly plugged into the outlet and the low-voltage plug is fully inserted into the control head.
  • Test transformer output: With a multimeter set to AC volts, measure the transformer output (typically 12–24 VAC). If there is no or low voltage, replace the transformer with the correct Hellenbrand-rated part.
  • Check control head connection: Inspect the low-voltage jack on the control head for corrosion or looseness. Reseat the plug several times.
  • Board short check: If a new transformer also fails or gets hot quickly, the control board may be shorted. In that case, replace the control board.
