Possible Causes
Plugged inlet screen, Collapsed resin bed blocking distributor, Foreign object lodged in valve, Mispositioned rotor blocking flow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Leave the softener in bypass to restore household water while you troubleshoot. Depressurize the softener before opening any connections.
- Check inlet screen: Remove the inlet connection and inspect any inlet screen or filter for sediment blockage. Clean thoroughly.
- Inspect valve internals: Remove the control head from the mineral tank and check for resin beads or debris in the valve ports.
- Check distributor tube: Look down into the tank to ensure the distributor tube is centered and not cracked or blocked at the top.
- Resin condition: If resin has migrated into the valve, the bottom screen or basket may be broken. Plan to replace the bottom distributor and resin.
- Reassemble and test: After clearing obstructions, reassemble, take the unit out of bypass, and verify normal flow.
