Softener emits a constant humming or buzzing sound from the control head.

Safety first: Unplug the unit before touching the transformer or motor. Do not operate the softener if you smell burning.

• Identify noise source: Remove the cover and listen carefully to locate whether the hum is from the transformer, motor, or relay.
• Check motor operation: If the motor hums but the cam does not move, the motor may be stalled. Replace the drive motor assembly.
• Inspect transformer: If the transformer is very hot or noisy, test its output voltage and replace if out of spec.
• Tighten mounts: Secure any loose screws or brackets that may be amplifying vibration.
• Board evaluation: If a relay is chattering, the control board may be failing and should be replaced.
