Possible Causes
Loose control head, Damaged tank O-ring, Cracked tank neck, Over-pressurization of system
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Place the unit in bypass and depressurize by opening a faucet. Unplug the unit before disassembly.
- Inspect tank neck: Dry the area and look for hairline cracks in the fiberglass or plastic neck of the mineral tank.
- Check head tightness: Gently attempt to tighten the control head onto the tank by hand. Do not overtighten; follow Hellenbrand torque recommendations.
- Replace O-ring: Remove the control head and inspect the large tank O-ring. Replace if flattened, cut, or brittle. Lubricate the new O-ring with silicone grease.
- Reassemble and pressurize: Reinstall the head, slowly bring the unit back into service, and watch for leaks as pressure builds.
- Address overpressure: If leaks recur, check house pressure and install or service a pressure regulator if pressure exceeds manufacturer limits.
