Possible Causes

Damaged rotor or piston seals, Debris lodged in valve seats, Cracked valve body, Mispositioned drain line flow control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately place the softener in bypass to stop unnecessary water loss. Do not cap the drain line while pressure is present.

  • Verify valve position: Confirm the control display shows the unit in Service, not in a regen step.
  • Inspect drain line flow control (DLFC): Remove the DLFC fitting and check for debris holding it open. Clean and reinstall.
  • Disassemble valve internals: With the unit depressurized, remove the rotor/piston and seal pack. Look for cuts, deformation, or debris on seals and seats.
  • Replace seals and rotor: Install a Hellenbrand rotor and seal kit appropriate for your valve model. Lubricate with silicone grease only.
  • Check valve body: Inspect for cracks or erosion around the drain port. Replace the valve body if damaged.
