Possible Causes
Cracked brine tank, Loose brine line fitting, Damaged brine well or safety float, Overfilling due to stuck refill valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and place it in bypass. Mop up standing water to prevent slip hazards.
- Inspect brine tank: Look for visible cracks, especially near the bottom seam. If cracked, the tank must be replaced.
- Check brine line fittings: Tighten the compression nuts at both the control valve and brine tank. Replace ferrules or O-rings if they are worn.
- Examine safety float: Remove the brine well cover and inspect the safety float assembly. Ensure it moves freely and seals properly. Replace if it sticks or leaks.
- Check for overfill cause: If the tank is overfilling, troubleshoot the brine refill valve and flow control in the control head.
- Test after repair: Refill the brine tank to normal level, restore service, and monitor for leaks during the next regeneration.
