Possible Causes

Stripped motor gear, Jammed rotor in control valve, Faulty cam position switch, Misaligned cam disk

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the softener. Close inlet and outlet valves and bypass the unit if possible.

  • Remove control valve cover: On the Idrobase head, remove the front/top plastic cover to expose the motor and cam assembly.
  • Inspect motor and gears: Check the motor gearbox for broken or missing teeth. If gears are stripped or the motor shaft is loose, the motor assembly must be replaced.
  • Check cam disk movement: Manually rotate the cam disk (using the manual regeneration knob if provided). It should move smoothly through all positions. If it binds, the rotor or piston inside the valve body may be jammed with debris.
  • Clean valve internals: If comfortable, remove the valve piston/rotor assembly according to the Idrobase service manual. Rinse parts, remove scale, and lubricate O-rings with silicone grease. Reassemble carefully.
  • Verify position switch: Inspect the cam position microswitch or Hall sensor. Ensure the wiring harness is intact and the switch actuates when the cam passes. Replace if defective.
  • Test: Restore power and run a manual regeneration. If E03 persists, replace the complete control valve head.
