Possible Causes
Swollen seals and spacers, Debris in valve body, Bent piston rod, Incorrect reassembly of valve stack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and isolate the softener with inlet and outlet valves. Open a tap to relieve pressure.
- Remove valve head: Follow Idrobase instructions to remove the control valve head from the resin tank. Place it on a clean bench.
- Disassemble piston assembly: Carefully remove the piston/rotor and seal pack. Note the order of seals and spacers.
- Inspect components: Look for torn O-rings, swollen seals, or scoring on the piston. Remove any resin beads or debris lodged in ports.
- Clean and lubricate: Clean all parts with clean water. Lightly coat seals and O-rings with silicone-based lubricant approved for potable water.
- Reassemble correctly: Reinstall the seal pack and piston in the correct orientation. Ensure the piston rod engages the motor cam properly.
- Test travel: Before pressurizing, manually rotate the cam to move the piston through all positions. It should move smoothly without binding. Reinstall the valve head and test regeneration.
