Possible Causes

Exhausted or fouled resin, Incorrect hardness or capacity settings, Bypass valve partially open, Insufficient brine concentration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Use caution when opening the brine tank and valve head. Disconnect power and isolate water if removing components.

  • Test hardness: Use a hardness test kit to measure raw and treated water. Confirm that treated water is not being softened.
  • Check bypass: Verify that the Idrobase bypass valve is fully in service position. A partially open bypass can mix hard and soft water.
  • Verify programming: Confirm that raw water hardness and resin volume are correctly set so the controller calculates proper capacity.
  • Inspect brine: Ensure there is adequate salt and that the brine tank contains saturated brine (water should taste very salty). If not, clean the brine tank and refill with fresh salt.
  • Resin condition: If the unit is old or has been exposed to iron or chlorine, the resin may be exhausted or fouled. Consider performing a resin cleaner treatment or replacing the resin bed.
