Idrobase
Hydraulic Noise / Water Hammer
Water softener is noisy during regeneration (loud banging, whistling, or humming)

Possible Causes
High inlet pressure, Sudden valve position changes, Loose piping supports, Restricted drain line causing pulsation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Close inlet valve slowly to avoid water hammer. Depressurize before adjusting piping.
- Check pressure: Measure inlet pressure. If above Idrobase limits, install or adjust a pressure reducing valve.
- Secure pipes: Add or tighten pipe clamps and supports near the softener to reduce vibration and banging.
- Inspect drain line: Ensure the drain hose is not partially blocked and is properly sized and routed to avoid backpressure.
- Adjust cycle times: In some models, backwash and rinse flow rates can be adjusted. Reduce flow slightly if noise is excessive, staying within manufacturer limits.
