Possible Causes
Stuck brine refill valve in Judo control head, Leaking brine valve seat, Defective brine float shutoff, Back-siphoning from drain line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and close the inlet valve. Be prepared for brine spillage; protect nearby surfaces.
- Stop water supply: Ensure the inlet to the softener is closed to prevent further filling.
- Check brine float: Lift the float assembly; it should stop water flow when raised. If water continues to enter, the float valve is defective and the Judo brine float assembly must be replaced.
- Inspect drain routing: Confirm the drain hose has a proper air gap and is not submerged in standing water, which can cause back-siphoning.
- Drain excess brine: Use a bucket or wet/dry vacuum to remove excess water to the normal level.
- Service refill valve: If water enters the brine tank even when the float is working, the internal refill valve in the control head is leaking and the Judo valve head assembly may require repair or replacement.
