Possible Causes

Defective Judo valve motor, Jammed rotary valve disc, Broken or stripped valve gear train, Faulty motor wiring or connector on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the valve cover. Close inlet and outlet valves and open a tap to relieve pressure.

  • Inspect valve head: Remove the plastic cover on the Judo control head. Look for obvious signs of damage, broken gears, or foreign objects around the rotary valve disc.
  • Check motor connection: Verify the motor plug is firmly seated on the control board and that no wires are pinched or corroded.
  • Manually rotate valve (if design allows): Some Judo valves have a manual override or hex drive. Gently attempt to rotate the valve to ensure it is not seized. Do not force it; if it is stuck, internal seals or debris may be jamming it.
  • Test motor operation: With the cover off and power restored, start a manual regeneration and observe whether the motor attempts to turn. If the motor hums but does not move, the gear train may be stripped. If there is no movement or sound, test the motor coil with a multimeter and replace the Judo valve motor assembly if open or shorted.
  • Clean valve disc: If you see scale or debris on the rotary disc, follow the Judo service instructions to remove and clean it, then reassemble with correct orientation.
