Possible Causes

Blocked Judo turbine flow meter, Defective Hall-effect flow sensor, Damaged flow sensor cable, Incorrect installation direction of flow meter

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the softener by closing inlet and outlet valves. Depressurize the system before removing any flow components.

  • Check installation direction: Confirm the arrow on the Judo flow meter body points in the direction of water flow. If installed backwards, the meter will not register correctly.
  • Clean turbine: Remove the flow meter from the valve head or piping. Inspect the turbine wheel for sand, rust, or limescale. Rinse thoroughly and ensure the wheel spins freely with a gentle puff of air or water.
  • Inspect sensor and cable: Examine the Hall sensor housing and cable for cracks, moisture ingress, or cuts. Ensure the connector is fully seated on the control board.
  • Test sensor output: With the unit powered and the sensor connected, slowly spin the turbine and measure the sensor output (if you have a multimeter) or watch the display for flow pulses. If no pulses are detected, replace the Judo flow meter sensor assembly.
  • Reset and test: Reinstall the meter, open valves slowly, and run water at a tap while checking that the display now shows flow and that E03 clears.
