Possible Causes
Stuck Judo brine refill valve, Defective brine float assembly, Blocked brine drain causing backflow, Incorrect brine refill time setting on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the softener and avoid contact with electrical parts when working around water. Wear gloves when handling brine.
- Inspect brine float: Open the brine well cover inside the salt tank. Lift and lower the float rod; it should move freely and shut off water when raised. Clean any salt bridges or sludge around the float assembly.
- Check for backflow: Ensure the brine drain hose is routed to a proper drain with an air gap and is not submerged. A blocked or improperly installed drain can cause water to siphon back into the brine tank.
- Test refill valve: During the brine refill stage (manual regeneration), observe the water entering the brine tank. If water continues to flow after the programmed time, the internal refill valve in the Judo control head may be leaking and require replacement.
- Verify settings: Enter the programming menu and confirm the brine refill time matches the Judo specification for your model and salt dosage. Correct any obvious misconfiguration.
- Drain excess water: Manually bail out excess brine or use a wet/dry vacuum to restore normal level before the next regeneration.
