Possible Causes
Clogged Judo inlet strainer, Fouled resin bed with iron or sediment, Collapsed riser tube screen, Partially closed bypass or service valves
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Close inlet and outlet valves and depressurize before opening any unions.
- Check external plumbing: Ensure all isolation valves around the Judo softener are fully open and the bypass is not partially engaged.
- Clean inlet strainer: Remove and rinse the inlet strainer as described in the inlet fault section.
- Bypass test: Place the softener in bypass. If house pressure returns to normal, the restriction is inside the softener.
- Resin bed inspection: If comfortable, remove the valve head and inspect the top of the resin bed and riser tube screen for mud, iron sludge, or resin fines. Severe fouling may require resin cleaning or replacement of the Judo ion-exchange resin and Judo riser tube / distributor.
