Judo
Water Hammer / Rapid Valve Switching
Judo softener makes loud banging or water hammer noises during regeneration
Advertisements
Possible Causes
High mains pressure without pressure reducer, Rapid closing Judo valve ports, Loose piping near softener, Missing or failed water hammer arrestor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not touch moving valve parts during regeneration. Avoid standing directly over rigid copper lines when testing.
- Check pressure: Measure mains pressure. If it exceeds Judo's recommended maximum, install or service a Judo pressure reducing valve upstream.
- Secure piping: Ensure all pipes near the softener are properly clipped and supported to reduce movement.
- Install hammer arrestor: Fit a water hammer arrestor on the line feeding the softener if hammer persists.
- Adjust regeneration time: Schedule regeneration for night hours to minimize disturbance, but still address the underlying pressure issue.
