Regeneration Scheduling / Timer Fault
Judo water softener does not start regeneration at the programmed time
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Incorrect time-of-day setting, Regeneration mode set to manual only, Inadequate water usage to trigger meter-initiated regeneration, Control board clock malfunction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal work required for basic checks; keep covers closed.
- Check current time: Enter the user menu and verify the displayed time matches actual time. Adjust if necessary.
- Review regeneration mode: Ensure the Judo softener is set to metered or time-clock mode as desired. In manual mode, it will never regenerate automatically.
- Confirm regeneration time: Verify the programmed regeneration start time (e.g., 2:00 AM) and that the unit is not in vacation or standby mode.
- Check water usage: For metered models, ensure the flow meter is counting usage. If the display never shows flow, see the flow sensor fault section.
- Manual test: Start a manual regeneration. If this works but automatic cycles never start despite correct settings, the Judo main control board may have a timer fault and require replacement.
