• 1. Listen and observe:
  • Restore power briefly and start a manual regeneration.
  • Listen for the drive motor at the valve head. If you hear humming but no movement, the motor or gears may be jammed. If you hear nothing, the motor may be open or not powered.
• 2. Inspect the drive motor and cam:
  • Unplug the unit again and remove the top cover.
  • Locate the drive motor on the side of the valve head (often a small rectangular motor with two wires and a gear engaging the rotor/cam).
  • Check for broken or stripped plastic gears, cracked cam, or foreign objects binding the rotor.
  • Try turning the rotor/cam by hand (with pliers on the shaft if needed). It should move with moderate resistance but not be seized.
• 3. Electrical checks:
  • Inspect the motor harness for loose or corroded connectors.
  • If you have a multimeter and are qualified, check motor coil resistance (compare to service manual spec; an open circuit indicates a bad motor).
• 4. Replace components:
  • If gears are stripped or the cam is cracked, replace the rotor/cam assembly.
  • If the motor does not run when powered and wiring is good, replace the drive motor.
  • If a new motor and cam still trigger Err 02, the control board may not be sending proper signals and should be replaced.
