Possible Causes
Blocked venturi injector in control head, Air leak in brine line connections, Stuck air check valve at bottom of brine well, Low water pressure during regeneration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Place the softener in bypass and depressurise. Wear gloves when handling brine components.
- Clean injector: Remove the venturi injector and nozzle from the control head (refer to service manual). Soak in vinegar or a descaling solution to remove iron and scale. Rinse thoroughly.
- Inspect air check valve: Remove the brine pick‑up assembly from the brine well. Check that the air check ball or flapper moves freely and is not stuck with salt.
- Check for air leaks: Ensure all brine line connections are tight and that the tubing is not cracked. Even small air leaks will prevent proper suction.
- Verify water pressure: Confirm that mains pressure meets Kinetico's minimum requirement during regeneration. Low pressure can prevent brine draw.
- Test cycle: Return to service and run a manual regeneration, watching the brine level. It should drop steadily during brine draw.
Warning: Do not enlarge injector orifices; this will permanently alter the softener's performance.
