How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Bypass the softener and relieve pressure. Disconnect power on electronic models.
- Check brine line: Inspect the brine line from the control head to the brine well for kinks, compression, or blockages. Straighten or replace as needed.
- Clean refill orifice: Locate the brine refill orifice or restrictor in the control head. Remove and soak in vinegar or warm water to dissolve scale, then rinse.
- Test refill manually: Initiate a manual regeneration and observe the brine tank during the refill stage. If no water enters, the brine valve may be stuck closed.
- Replace brine valve: If cleaning does not restore flow, replace the brine valve assembly according to Kinetico instructions.
Warning: Operating the softener without brine refill will quickly exhaust the resin and result in hard water.
