Possible Causes
Blocked inlet screen, Fouled resin bed with iron or sediment, Partially closed bypass or service valves, Undersized plumbing connections
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water and relieve pressure before removing any fittings.
- Check bypass position: Confirm the Kinetico bypass manifold is fully in the "Service" position and that any isolation valves are fully open.
- Inspect inlet screen: Remove the inlet union and check for a mesh screen or strainer. Clean any debris or scale.
- Backwash resin (if possible): Initiate a manual regeneration and allow the backwash stage to complete fully to flush sediment from the resin bed.
- Assess resin fouling: If pressure drop persists, the resin may be heavily fouled. A professional resin clean or replacement may be required.
Warning: Do not drill out flow restrictors or enlarge ports; this can damage the softener and plumbing system.
