Softener emits a constant hissing or running water sound even when no taps are open.

Safety first: Check for water at the drain line. If water is continuously flowing, place the softener in bypass to stop the flow and prevent water waste.

• Inspect drain line: Confirm that water is indeed discharging to drain when no regeneration is in progress.
• Cycle the valve: Initiate a manual regeneration and allow it to complete, then return to service. Sometimes cycling can clear minor debris.
• Clean valve seats: If the problem persists, the control head must be opened to inspect and clean the valve seals and seats according to the service manual.
• Replace seals: Worn or damaged seals should be replaced with a Kinetico seal kit.

Warning: Continuous flow to drain can be costly and may go unnoticed; address promptly.
