Water Hammer During Regeneration
Softener is very noisy during backwash, with banging or water hammer in the pipes.

Possible Causes
High mains pressure, Fast‑closing valves in control head, Lack of water hammer arrestors, Long unrestrained pipe runs
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Sudden pressure surges can stress plumbing; monitor for leaks.
- Check pressure: Measure mains pressure with a gauge. If above Kinetico's recommended maximum, install a pressure reducing valve (PRV) upstream.
- Secure pipework: Ensure pipes near the softener are properly clipped and supported to reduce movement.
- Install hammer arrestors: Fit water hammer arrestors near the softener or at problem fixtures to absorb shock.
- Schedule regeneration: Program regeneration to occur at night when water usage is low to minimise disturbance.
Warning: Persistent water hammer can damage both the softener and household plumbing; address promptly.
