Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately place the softener in bypass and shut off the water supply if the leak is significant. Disconnect power.
- Identify leak source: Dry the area and observe carefully to locate the exact origin (top cover, side seam, plumbing union, etc.).
- Check unions and fittings: Gently tighten inlet/outlet unions and drain connections by hand plus a small additional turn. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
- Inspect O‑rings: If the leak is at a joint between valve sections, disassemble according to the service manual and inspect O‑rings for cuts or flattening. Replace with genuine Kinetico seals.
- Assess for cracks: If the control head or valve body is visibly cracked, replacement of the entire head is required.
Warning: Do not attempt to repair cracked plastic with glue or sealant; this is temporary and unsafe under pressure.
