Possible Causes
Weak internal capacitor or battery on Lindsay board, Frequent power interruptions, Faulty real-time clock circuit on board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control head.
- Verify stable power: Ensure the softener is plugged into a non-switched outlet that is not controlled by a wall switch or timer.
- Check backup battery (if present): Some Lindsay boards use a coin-cell battery. Replace it with the same type, observing polarity.
- Reprogram time: Set the correct time and regeneration schedule. Monitor for a few days to see if E10 returns.
- Consider surge protection: Install a small surge protector to reduce power spikes that can damage the clock circuit.
If the clock continues to reset and E10 persists, the control board’s clock circuit has failed and the board should be replaced.
