Possible Causes
Failed Lindsay keypad membrane, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and board, Damaged user interface circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the softener before removing the faceplate.
- Dry the panel: If the unit is in a damp area, inspect for condensation. Gently dry the keypad and inside of the cover with a soft cloth. Do not use heat guns.
- Check ribbon cable: Remove the front cover and locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the board. Reseat it firmly and ensure it is not creased or torn.
- Test buttons: Restore power and test each button. If some or all remain unresponsive, the keypad membrane is likely defective.
- Replace keypad: Order the correct Lindsay keypad/faceplate assembly. Remove the old one (often adhered with tabs or adhesive) and install the new keypad, ensuring a good seal to prevent future moisture ingress.
