Possible Causes

Excessive mechanical resistance in Lindsay valve, Heavy iron or scale buildup on piston and seals, Weak drive motor, Incorrect cycle timing parameters

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and shut off water. Relieve pressure at a faucet.

  • Manual cam movement: Remove the control cover and gently rotate the cam through all positions with a screwdriver. If it binds or is very stiff, internal piston/seals are fouled.
  • Clean or rebuild valve: Follow Lindsay’s valve service procedure to remove the main piston and seal pack. Soak parts in a mild iron remover if heavily stained, or replace with a Lindsay piston and seal kit.
  • Lubricate seals: Apply a thin coat of silicone-based lubricant to O-rings and seals before reassembly. Do not use petroleum grease.
  • Check motor strength: If the valve is clean but still stalls, the drive motor may be weak and should be replaced.
