Possible Causes

Failed Lindsay salt level probe, Heavy salt crust insulating sensor, Broken sensor wiring, Incorrect sensor calibration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before handling any electrical sensor in the brine tank.

  • Expose sensor: Remove the brine tank lid and locate the salt level sensor (if equipped). Carefully remove salt around the probe to visually inspect it.
  • Clean sensor: Wipe off salt buildup with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Ensure the sensor tip is not encased in a hard salt bridge.
  • Check wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the control head. Reseat the connector and inspect for damage.
  • Recalibrate (if supported): Some Lindsay models allow salt sensor calibration in the installer menu. Follow the manual to recalibrate with the tank at a known salt level.

If E16 persists after cleaning and wiring checks, replace the Lindsay salt level sensor.
