Possible Causes
Failed Lindsay brine refill solenoid or piston, Clogged refill orifice, Kinked brine refill tubing, Control board not energizing refill circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the inlet valve before servicing the brine system.
- Check brine tank water level: After a full regeneration, there should be a small amount of water in the brine tank. If it is completely dry and E6 is shown, suspect refill issues.
- Inspect refill line: Follow the small tubing from the Lindsay valve to the brine tank. Straighten any kinks and ensure the tubing is not pinched under the tank lid.
- Clean refill orifice: At the valve end, remove the refill fitting and locate the small orifice or flow restrictor. Soak in vinegar to dissolve scale, then rinse and reinstall.
- Test solenoid/piston: During the refill stage (end of regen), listen for a click or water flow. If silent, the solenoid or internal piston may be stuck. Manually move the valve through cycles to free it, or replace the refill assembly.
If mechanical parts are clean and moving but no voltage is present at the refill solenoid during refill, the control board may be faulty.
