Possible Causes
Sticking shuttle valve between resin cylinders, Faulty changeover motor or actuator, Incorrect feedback from position switch, Debris in internal porting between tanks
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate water and power before opening the valve assembly on duplex systems.
- Observe changeover: Initiate a manual regeneration and watch the cylinder status on the display. Note whether the valve attempts to switch between tanks.
- Listen for actuator: A healthy changeover motor should be audible. If silent, check the motor wiring and connector.
- Inspect shuttle valve: Remove the changeover/shuttle valve assembly as per Monarch instructions. Check for grit or scale preventing full travel. Clean with water and a soft brush.
- Check position switch: Ensure the microswitch or sensor that detects valve position is correctly aligned and not damaged.
- Replace actuator if needed: If the motor runs but cannot move the valve, or is seized, replace the changeover actuator assembly.
