Possible Causes
Salt bridge preventing salt from dropping, Sensor not in contact with salt, Dirty or scaled salt probe, Faulty salt level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working inside the brine tank.
- Visually confirm salt: Open the brine tank and check whether salt is actually present around the sensor area. Top up with the recommended tablet or block salt if low.
- Break salt bridge: If there is a hard crust above an empty void, gently break it up so salt can fall into the water.
- Reposition sensor: Ensure the salt sensor or float is correctly located per Monarch instructions and is not stuck against the tank wall.
- Clean sensor: Wipe the sensor with a damp cloth to remove heavy salt deposits.
- Reset alarm: After correction, clear the E17 alarm via the control panel. If it returns, the sensor may need replacement.
