How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate water and power. Depressurise the system before removing the valve head.
- Attempt regeneration: Start a manual regeneration and listen for unusual noises (grinding, squealing) from the valve, which may indicate seal or piston issues.
- Inspect for leaks: Check around the valve body for weeping or drips, a common sign of seal pack wear.
- Disassemble valve head: Following Monarch's service instructions, remove the valve cover and piston assembly. Note the orientation of all parts.
- Examine seals and piston: Look for nicks, swelling, or flattening of the seals, and scoring on the piston surface. Replace the complete seal and spacer kit if any damage is found.
- Lubricate and reassemble: Use only food-grade silicone grease on seals as recommended. Reassemble carefully and test through a full regeneration.
