Possible Causes
Weak internal backup capacitor or battery on control board, Intermittent power supply, Loose power cord connection, Faulty control board memory circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Verify power source: Confirm the outlet supplying the Morton softener is delivering stable 120V AC (in North America) and is not controlled by a wall switch or GFCI that frequently trips.
- Inspect power cord and transformer: Check the power transformer and cord for damage, loose plugs, or overheating. Replace the transformer if it is warm with no load or shows signs of failure.
- Check control board connections: Remove the control panel and ensure the low-voltage connector from the transformer is firmly seated on the board.
- Reprogram and monitor: Plug the unit back in, set the correct time and hardness, and observe over 24–48 hours. If the time resets or Err 07 reappears without power loss, the board’s memory/backup circuit is likely failing.
- Replace control board: Install a new electronic control board compatible with your Morton model. Transfer any jumper settings or programming as specified in the service manual.
