- Inspect drain line routing: Ensure the drain line is not kinked, crushed, or run uphill excessively. Correct any routing issues.
- Check for clogs: Disconnect the drain line at the valve and blow through it or flush with water to clear obstructions. Clean any air gap or standpipe connection.
- Inspect drain flow control: Remove and clean the drain flow control orifice in the valve body. Debris here can severely limit flow.
- Verify water pressure: Confirm household water pressure is adequate. Very low pressure can reduce backwash effectiveness.
- Test regeneration: After cleaning, run a manual regeneration and confirm a strong, steady flow at the drain during backwash and rinse.
